Moving Tips: What to Take With You and Why
Moving is one of those life events that most people have to go through at least once. Whether you are moving for a new job, or just because you can’t stand your landlord anymore, it’s not an easy process. It can be stressful and tiring so we at Northshore Moving Company wanted to give you some tips on how to make the transition easier.
Pack up your apartment: Be sure to put all of the furniture in boxes, including clothes and pictures. Pack up anything else you can like dishes, knickknacks, spices, utensils – anything that needs a home should be packed away. Put it on your moving truck or load them into cardboard boxes.
Hire movers: If you are moving yourself then this step is crucial! Consider hiring professional movers because they will likely have been through more moves than you have and know how to do everything efficiently (and fast!). You’ll also want someone who has experience loading trucks so make sure that’s included in their services. They’ll pack for you too which saves time if not money!
Label everything: This is a step that you really can’t skip. Label your boxes with clear, permanent marker and consider using stickers so they’re easy to spot in the moving truck. Label anything smaller than a box (like dishes) with masking tape or painter’s tape.
Pack an overnight bag for yourself and one for each family member: Plan ahead! Have clothes ready to go at all times during the move – it’s not just good planning but also helps calm nerves about what will happen when you reach your new home. You’ll want everyone in on this part of the process too because there are some items like medications that need to be updated before traveling. And don’t forget toiletries, toothbrush & toothpaste etc., as well.
